You should ask the civic people, no accord came with that engine. But I do know they are the same size.

Honda engines generally have a number in the which coresponds to the displacement. For example a F22 is a 2.2 liter engine. A B18C is a 1.8 liter engine. So you D16z would most likely be a 1.6 liter engine.

I belive the d16z6 is the 92-95 EX civic while the d16y6 is the 96-00 motor. The difference is 125 v. 127 hp and OBDII for the 96-00 motor.

Basically they are the same thing.
-As stated before the D16Y8 came in the 96+ civics, while the D16z6 was in the 92-95 civics (maybe even before that).
-They both have vtec heads
-Z6 supposedly has a stronger bottom end, while the Y8 has a better flowing head and higher compression.
-Y8 = OBDII Z6 = OBDI

p.s. there are a whole bunch of D-series revival threads around. Do a search, great stuff.

The biggest and only true advantage of the D16Z6 is the fact that it, like the coveted 94-95 GS-R's, is OBD-I and thus takes a tremendous advantage of aftermarket parts vs. later OBD-II models. I've got friends who've openend just about every D16 under the sun and they're always the first to state, the bottom ends are practicaly identical, and yes the P2P head is a better design. Outside of that, they are for all intents and purposes 1 in the same.

OBDI over OBDII.

Or just convert the Y8 to OBDI and your done. You have the best design.
