d16y8 vs. d16y7 intake
I got a 98 hatch with the stock dx motor is it the d16y7 with the crazy TB pointed upward? my buddy has a intake mani. from a 99 d16y8 vtec, if I swap them will I feel a difference is the y8 much better??

The d16y8 IM is the best flowing manifold there is for the sohc engines. You will probably notice a difference, but nothing major to tell all your friends about.

well, you won't feel much of a difference. Since it is a non vtech. but give it a shot you might like the little, and i mean little extra power!! LOL by the way like ur sig!! lmao, wings are for planes...hhahahahahaha

im searching some sites and some people are saying you have to swap the ecu also because of the IAC valve is different

no ecu swap, you just convert your Y7 3-wire Iacv to the work with the 2-wire y8 iacv. At the ecu on plug A, move the pin from A14 to the empty slot A12. Remove the pin from A13 and leave it hanging, it is not longer needed. At the IACV, you'll need to frin a round style connector. Disregard the Orange wire as it will no longer be used. Connect the yellow/black wire from your old harness and connect to the green/blasck wire on your new IACV plug. Take the black/blue wire from your harness and connect to the black wire on new plug. Then your done

Won't work you will throw a cel because the y7 ecu looks for a 3-wire iacv. That method only works if you convert to a p2p or p28 etc ecu while doing a mini me. You re use your y7 throttle body on an auto y8 manifold or on a 5spd manifold and seal the iacv holes on the back. You also have to change the throttle rotor from the y7 throttle body and put a y8 one on.
