The kits you mentioned are all good ones, you can maybe get it done cheaper by putting your own together but you have to be carefull what you get and it'll probly run you 2500.

you can get very basic kits on ebay that are universal and need to be modified a bit to get them to work. All your going to really want on that motor without building it is maxing it out around 10 psi, so any of those kits will work.

Re: d16y8 turbo? (blade0314)
Get the Edelbrock. But get the version that doesn't come with the fuel setup and the piggyback. Instead do your own fuel setup and get some real engine management.
Greddy was made cheap by not including some critical components like an intercooler. By the time you add all the stuff that should have been included, you spent more than the Edelbrock.
I wouldn't recommend building your own kit from junkyard or ebay pieces if it's your first turbo. It's going to be a big mess.

I got a question, would it be a good idea to build my engine first if I wanted a turbo? or get a new engine altogether? and what would be a practical build i can do first to my engine? cams? pistons? springs? crank?
