Default D16y8 manifold on d16z6?

Is there really any gains by swapping the y8 ex.manifold onto the z6 head

I had this on my d15b swap. it was a decent response i suppose.. if nothing else it at least looks better.

Ive been looking at alot of the d-series exhaust manifolds and thats why I asked
anyone know what manifold this is? and would that "canister" create better flow thus giving more power?

That "canister" you are referring to is the catalytic converter. That is a D16Y7 exhaust system.

The Y8 intake manifold and exhaust manifold are both more efficient than their Z6 counterparts. You will see some small gains by swapping them out. Also, the stock airbox you usually see on all D-series is extremely restrictive because of the small diameter, square filter, and mostly, the silencer.

The Y8 header is a 4-2-1 setup with the cat under the car. Also, the Y8 has the best *intake* manifold of the D-series. Some refer to it as the D-series's "Type-R" equivalent, but a more accurate depiction is that the rest of the D-series manifolds suck *** and the Y8 is at least semi-decent.

What is your current exhaust setup so we know what you're trying to replace?

Its a stock d16z6 with cracked exhaust manifold, testpipe, 2.25" exhaust from testpipe back stock resonator and no muffler (pipe runs all the way to back)

the Y8 manifold is the best of the D series manifolds.
