D16Y8 dyno. 9-30-03
As of this morning. 115whp with the silencer and 117 without.
AEM Short ram intake/DC 4-2-1 header with perrty little dents/stock cat/Cat back without resonator and straight through muffler with and without silencer.
The noise isn't worth the power.
Future mods include a CAI and a "suprise".
Vs. Stock engine. All VTEC baby!! (Silncer installed)
Vs. Civic SI Actually put down more power from 4000-6000!!!

Wait till you see the B16's power. Almost the same just keeps going instead of hitting the rev limiter.

Not really surprsed by the power band...looks decent and clean
I am surprised by the silencer only removing 2hp...guess noise isnt worth the power
think it'd have the same minimal effect on the b16?

Re: D16Y8 dyno. 9-30-03 (Spade)
Edit-looked at it wrong
I'm surprised the silencer makes that much difference. I think a resonator might rob some power too.

Actually, I bet between 3-6k you make more torque

Yeah, I knew it would make more power and I always had a hunch it wouldn't be that much.....however, it is everywhere in the power band.
Still yes, the noise is not worth the power.....ticket or no ticket hmmmm. :-)

Re: D16Y8 dyno. 9-30-03 (Spade)
Nice numbers. Definately get the CAI. I made 125whp and 105wtq on my D16Y8 but my C/R was also 10.1:1. I'll be posting dynos all-motor and with nitrous after my second visit to Secret Services this Friday if all goes well.

can't you read the charts?
between 3-6K its around 90-98 ft/lbs. thats what a b16 does until vtec...

Re: D16Y8 dyno. 9-30-03 (RyanCivic2000)
My Y8 dynoed last April sometime - I don't have a scanner, so I copied some of the data points and plotted it in Excel. Testing was on a Dynapack.
DC 4-1 header, WS catback, and K&N short ram.

Re: D16Y8 dyno. 9-30-03 (draco067)
Damn Spade....just those mods and you took it to the dyno! You have money oozing out of your pockets?
graph looks way better than the one I saw the other day that had a Skunk2 camshaft and only made 116 whp after tuning with a VAFC....took much more money for the same power.
draco.....are you sure your numbers close to redline are correct? I have seen a lot of Y8 dyno plots, and none that show a huge power spike like yours at the end. It usually ends up to be flat or pointing down slightly.

Re: D16Y8 dyno. 9-30-03 (Marauder)
yeah, it looks the same as the plot I'm holding right now ... the power is just increasing
although I admit there's a bit of weirdness going on in the plot from ~6600-6819 (as far up as I let them rev it), the power is definitely increasing up to 6600. The tq curve peaks around 6000, then begins to drop off. Around 6600 it's beginning to drop off less rapidly, then is perfectly flat from 6600-6800, leading me to suspect something fishy. Up until 6500 or so though, everything looks normal.

Hey Spade....ya catching something there? sounds like a nasty cough!

Heh heh, give me a month or two and we will see where I'm at.
