d16y7 w/ y8/z6 manifold question
hey guys i just swapped a y7 into my 96 ex and need to change my engine harness. i would like to put a non vtec engine harness into my car but was wondering if the engine harness will reach all of the necesary sensors on a d16z6 manifold. i have a d16y7 w/ the z6 manifold on it. thanks for your help, much appreciated..

Best thing you could do if you want to stay non VTEC is get an AUTO y8 manifold. Then you could use the y7 harness no problem. Any other manifold besides that and y7 will give you IAC problems.

IACV maybe? idk where it is on the y8 mani but it is right on the top for the y7 mani. it's actually a three wire sensor on y7 but it's a two wire on y8

Sorta. You will need to reuse the Y7 throttlebody and block off the IACV on the back of the Z6 IM, you will also have to pick an IAT sensor to use.

Re: d16y7 w/ y8/z6 manifold question
Because its a 2 wire IACV, compared to the Y7s 3 wire IACV. If you try to use the Z6 IACV it flat out will not idle right. Thats why it makes far more sense to use an automatic Y8 IM, direct bolt on.

Re: d16y7 w/ y8/z6 manifold question
so automatic y8 manifold with my two sensor will work properly? and all the wires on a y7 harness will be bale to reach the sensors it needs? and do u kno where i can find a layout of the colors of the wires on a 96-98 dx/lx engine harness?
and thank you for your help u have been very imformative
i have two y8 manifolds how do i tell if one is from an auto? and what is the difference between the manual and auto one?

That white sensor is the IAT (intake air temperature sensor), its on the intake piping on your EX. And yes, auto Y8 IM and Y7 throttlebody (automatic Y8 works fine as well) and you're all set.
