Default d16y7 into 93 cx?

my friend wants to put a 98 dx engine into his 93 cx. the dx engine has no starter or distributor. can he use the ones from the cx? if he can't, then he wants to just put the head on. what exactly is needed for this? what timing belt, headgasket, etc? thanks in advance for the replies. yes i searched, and obviously not too many people do this. my friend is a cheapass, but what can i do.

all D series distributers(well, the ones that even come with them) are universal, same with b series.

Yes you can use the dizy off of the 93, you just have to use that ECU.

ok, got one thing out of the way. so i'm guessing a 92-95 dx ecu will work as well? that's what he's planning on using, because it'll be easier to convert the engine to obd1 than convert the car to obd2. also, what about the start? anyone know?
