D16y7 ideas/opinions needed?
i have a 96 Dx coupe and i just blew the engine. since i'm on a tight budget right now, i bought a cheap D16y7 motor and i just wanted to add a few mods to make it a little faster possibly. any ideas or opinions that wouldn't cost most than what my car which was 2k.
thanks
toni

not really, the only mod would be prob a shorter tranny(y8). and maybe a better IM(y8) bolt ons are no good.
your better off just saveing and doing boost.....unfortunately you will end up spending probably 2k.

here's what i would do if i was in your shoe's.
1. sell your old motor
2. do a minime with the new y7
3. hmt kit

dood im sorry to bust your nut but umm your not going to get alot of power from bolt ons and little things like tranny swap,IM swap. if anything(from experience) you'll probably get more problems than it is worth.
Save your money and save up for a turbo because everything else is completely useless no offense(maybe a tranny swap wouldnt be).
thats your best bet right now. shoot for a tranny swap

I had a Z6 in a EK hatch a few years ago and i had like a wet 75shot on it, it ran good, i would do that again. you just have to be sure that its tuned right. Most nitrous kits are only around 500, much cheaper then a turbo setup...just a thought.

Re: (turbcivicgsr)
bolt-ons for d-series have very minimal effects/hp gains. it's been proven to be a waste of money time after time. boost is the only way if I were you, I'd do a y8 tranny swap and do a y7/y8 mini-me and call it a day.

mini me can be a bitch if you run into problems or dont have much experience like myself.
the greddy kit is 1500 with the td04h and you will be very satisfied with that. it has basically everything you need. then you can upgrade if you want more.
