Default D16 series supercharger....

Has any body out there even looked into a Civinco superchager for their D series or B series motor. They make some pretty tall claims. I have emailed and gotten alot of positive feed back from the makers.

Problem is, they are from FVCKING Sweden.

Check out the website if nothing else....

But the JRSC has all of the dissadvantages of a SC and A TURBO.... there is a very small spool time.... lots of heat and it not Whipple style its Roots style SC.... Therefore the boost isn't as safe.

jrsc is the best supercharger for the d-series. period.

however, I do like the theory behind that supercharger you mentioned with the fmic like regular turbo set ups.

You guys have any goods stats to back the JRSC up.... So far I have only read and heard bad...

Does anyone have a JRSC on a d16.... if so whats the setup to run optimal and decent boost.

Im looking for streetable daily driver.

The more I talk to the guys at Civinco the better it sounds.... (I know there trying to sell a product), but the facts are good.

It even comes with an inter cooler and integrated wastegate/blowoff valve thats throttle responsive.

Bottom line: It`s still a d16. Also, if you have a problem with that kit, getting support from Sweden wil not be fun.

Ya well it might be a d16 but nopt everyone can afford a b18 block swap with b16 head. Little more cred to the d16 that can beat an h22.

Wrong. Centrifugal superchargers have the disadvantages of both, because it's basically a mechanically driven turbo.

The JSRC is Roots style, meaning it's NOTHING like a centrifugal turbocharger. It's a positive displacement blower.

240hp in a car that weighs little over a ton is enough to beat a stock SH. Look up the numbers. Doesn't matter what company sold me the product i installed or where the power is coming from.

Everybody talks crap about JRSC's. Well, here are some EXCELLENT goods:

http://www.hondata.com/dyno00sctyper.html

Not Jackson Racing's data, but Hondata, easily the best OBD-I tunable computer people.

The long and short of it is that JRSC's do improve power. Do they blow turbo's out of the water? No. Do they produce more power than centifugal blowers? No. Are they the best way to get more power? Well, probably not, but there is no BEST way. It all depends on what you're doing. D series superchargers work fairly well, and JRSC's are in general, pretty good. You get a bad one once in a while, and they have to be tuned well to work well, but they aren't a cure all.

not very impressive for $3000. I think the JRSC is only worth it on larger displacement engines.... B18C, B20, H22 etc.

not impressive?
thats an understatment
i put down 142 with intake on my b16 in a coupe (that was with 50lb 17" wheels too)
2300$.
with header and exhaust its around 150.

putting any form of boost on a D series motor is
1) a money pit
2) a waste of money (i dont care how many people disagree with me the SOHC motors are NOT MADE TO PRODUCE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF HORSEPOWER and to get that HP it takes a GRIP of cash.

Really. Show me 38hp for $2500 elsewhere. (Even buying from Jackson Racing, they're not $3000). (I must exclude a motor swap as Kamin above has pointed out).

never heard of civinco before.. but their claim seems promising... although i still would stay with jackson racing... civinco looks too generic for me to trust

Well I really dont know much about blowers... in fact i know nothing about blowers but Im looking for some real power and Ive been set on a B18B or a B16A for quite some time and this supercharger idea works for me cause I dont have to swap I just keept the engine in my car which I know has been decently maintained instead of some mystery engine and it will most likely be less money (hopefully)!!!

Just my .02 cents I still dont know what Im doing cause I have till the spring to decide but at least I have another alternative, and what I like about this alternative is that its more unique!
