so I'm looking at replacing the hg on a d16 motor (lots of coolant issues). money is very tight for the owner, so we're wondering if the stretch bolts can at all be re-used when replacing this? i recently helped a friend replace the hg on a d15 civic, and he re-used the stretch bolts and it all worked out fine. i'm just wondering if he was lucky that it worked out or not.

I saw a thread where a guy just used an extra 5lbs of torque and stated he never had an issue.

I'd chalk that up to luck, but others may disagree.

It's the owner of the cars call to make that gamble as it's their dime.

I agree on it being a gamble. They are NOT re-useable. I wouldn't put my name on that project.
