D15Z1 short block with Y8 head ?
what do you mean orange stuff, like orange silicone RTV??? thats normal if so, alot of people use it in the wrong place. i would manually do a compression test w/ the motor uninstalled, if the numbers are all within a few psi of each other i would install and go from there.

ok, ok.
i also got a d15b i got from someone but i think it has a blown head gasket. the thermostat and everywhere where there was a coolant hoses theres orange stuff.
would i need to resurface or can i just put on a head gasket and go from there.</TD></TR></TABLE>
but d15z1 and d15b share the same blocks. But then again that requires bearing mismatches and a bunch of reassembly and possibly new bearings
which reminds me to update my sig for my new thread

naw i mean everywhere, where coolant runs. i never seen water jackets like this before, they're are always whiteish/clean.
i pulled the head and it was all over the water jackets too.
take a look...... you think i need a resurface? doesnt looked warped or anything.
btw what car did the d15b's come from? need to know so i can go get a gasket.

Need more info.....I'm doing the same thing except with a z6 Head until my boost project is finished. I want to know:
What piston works in the z1?
Can I just through in a z6 crank and rods and pistons, slap in the head, and run the stock p28?
Help out a newb to the z1......
