Icon6 D15B7 to JDM D15...

So after a bit of searching & hair-pulling, I've gotten a JDM D15 to replace the D15B7 on my 92 Civic LX. Engine, parts & car are sitting at a friend's shop waiting to be put in within the next week. I'm wondering if there's anything I should be aware of regarding the swap, especially considering that, even though the distributor I spoke with said the engine was compatible, the engine was fitted on 1990 Civics (Japanese models) and not '92s.

I've also read on another forum that one guy had an issue with this same swap where the water pump wasn't fitting properly, and even though other posters hadn't heard of the problem, one said that the pump from a D15-Z1 would fit. Any suggestions/thoughts?

if its from a 90, odds are its an obd-0, maybe even the dual carb motor. youll need to swap over your im, alt, dist, etc. i dont see why the water pump wouldnt fit.

Which D15B do you have?
OBD1 Vtec
OBD1 Vtec-e
OBD2 3 stage Vtec
Dual carbed?

Its important because things like water pumps and timing belts will differ depending on what you have. If you're unsure of what you have post some pictures and I can identify it.

if any of the vtec variants the basic engine is quite a bit different, similar in many ways, but different.

It's the dual-carbed non-VTEC from what I remember. It's sitting about 8 miles away, so I can't verify 100%, but I'm pretty sure it's the DC.

If thats the case then its basically a D15B7 block and head (you will have fab up a block off plate for the hole in the back of the head left from the mechanical fuel pump) and swap the intake and exhaust manifolds.
