D15B VTEC head/block question

D15B VTEC head/block question
Here's my issue. Somehow my harmonic balncer got loose, got wobbly, and in the process, took a chip out of my crank shaft where the woodruff key sits. I bought a new bolt, new key, and tried to put some JB Weld on crank shaft as a temporary fix until I could find a crankshaft. That didn't work. It lasted me one trip to work and was about to fall off again by the time I got there.
So here is my question. Instead of trying to find a crankshaft for a JDM D15B, and hoping it is good and all, can I put a D16z6 block with the D15B VTEC head? If I can, what does that do for the motor? Does it give it a little more horse? little less?
Also, the motor is supercharged and the chip is basemapped to the D15B motor. However, I believe it is still a P28. It has not actually been dyno tuned to the motor yet. I'm just not sure if changing the bottom end has anything to do with the ECM.
Let me know if any more info is needed. Thanks for any input.

BTW the car is a 93 civic.

Re: JDM D15B VTEC block/ head question
I was just curious if I could use the head I already have since Ive already takin it apart and cleaned all the valves. Not to mention I took the stock z6 out of it to put the D15B in, so that would just be annoying.

Re: D15B VTEC head/block question
It's my understanding the D15B vtec is even better than the D16Z6.
I would have a machine shop weld repair the crank square key spot and then you keep the best setup.
The key I believe is you have the same rod length as the Z6 but a shorter deck and tighter compression height pistons.
You might take some calipers and measure the rod and main journals, they may match the Z6, in which case you can use the Z6 crank in your D15B block.
Only the vtec block uses the same length rods as the D16's as far as I know and may also be the only one with the same size mains and rod big ends. You will have to check to be sure though.

Also, if it does work, I was curious what the horsepower gains/ losses would be. (If anyone knows)

Re: D15B VTEC head/block question
He's not NA though, it's supercharged. And the chip is set for supercharged d15b vtec.
The change up in the block with the larger displacement and different rod/stroke ratio might throw that out a touch. Probably not enough to make a significant difference, but enough to push for a tune sooner instead of later.
Finding clear spec information on the D15B's is challenging. So making direct comparisons is pretty much impossible without tearing the motor down and measuring everything.
And yes OP the Z6 will fit the head without issue. The difference is a slightly taller deck than the D15B which changes the rod/stroke ratio and is how the 75mm bore becomes a slightly larger displacement of 1.6L.
