Thats the torque converter used on AUTO trannys. If you want your car manual you have to take that off.

Haha. Sorry about the newbie question. Nothing wrong with learning something new everyday right? BTW I lied, this is not my D15B; my friend gave me the pic and asked what it is, so I just post it up. Thanks for the answers.

Re: d15b longblock, need help with fitting tranny in! (BADEG4)
If you plan on keeping the automatic transmission your will want to probably put a new one on. To take it off, theres 4/6 bolts on the back of the dome/torque convertor. and have the new torque convertor slid on the shaft the the automatic transmission and bolt the transmission up the the motor and then spin the torque convertor around and bolt it on the backside with the bolts you took off, the reason for that is the end of the torque convertor has to aline with the pump and if you dont to that you can f-up your pump.
If you want to go manual you, want to remove the bolts on the back of the dome/torque convertor, and you will have the flex plate there, and you will want to remove the bolts on that, and bolt up your flywheel and clutch them, q's PM me i can explain it better w/pics

Re: (G U E C O)
You have enough posts to know what the hell the engine should look like on a manual tranny when the tranny is off. I would say search, but not sure how you would search for it. Oh well gtfo

The only problems with these forums is people cant ask for help with out getting ripped apart saying they should know that. How is anyone supposed to learn if they cant ask questions. Not everyone has a friend, brother, dad, uncle ect who knows about cars and can show them. I have to learn everything from these forums and what i can figure out by doing stuff by myself. Everything takes me probably 10x longer then anyone else on here because everything i do is for my first time and i have to figure stuff out. I dont think that was a dumb question to be asked. Now if he says "y0 my perple p0w@r banD dont engUag3 my VteCh" then ok. Atleast its a technical question that thank god doesnt have to do with intakes, exhausts or headers. Thats the end of what i have to say. I think people should just be a little more forgiving to the people trying to learn.

Re: (turner7205)
I guess I am fortunate... I was in the military and they had auto hobby shops. I used to go there on my days off and watch GI's screw up their cars and learn from their mistakes. (I had no real life )
I still remember my first engine build... I was totally stoked when it actually ran!
