different crank though so you won't really have too many options for rods at all, the exception is the d15b vtec - you can use low cr d16 pistons, and d16 rods. I say low cr b/c the deck height & crank, etc will raise the cr from the pistons intended use. i.e vitara pistons in a z6 is like 8.8:1 so in a d15b it's like 9.5:1 or something along those lines.

so you your opinion would i be advised to just try and find a d16 block and not mess with the d15?

I would. I mean, tranzex aka mista bone has run some good times with dx motors, but really, d15 performance is a hard thing to achieve, and can cost lots and lots of money because there aren't very many off the shelf pieces to use.
