Default d series trans questions

I have a 94 cx model hatchback with a 97 vtec d16y8 engine swap. My tranny is the stock cx model 5 speed. Will my car be faster and more snappy with a ex, si trans in it? I top out at 80mph in 2nd gear. It kills my low end.

ah see hes asking about a d series tranny on said engine topping out at 80 in second... that would mean- 97 d series vtec- meaning- d16y8. yes an ex/si tranny would help your acceleration considerably. make sure its not an A000 stamped case though since that would be what you already have. and just in case you are going to ask- s20, s40 is the model year with s20 being 92-95 s40 being 96-00. either will work in your car. plug and play.
