D series cant get the timing belt to go on...

D series cant get the timing belt to go on...
All right i got a 97 4door with a d16y7 and i had a bad valve so i took the old orig head off swaped everything to a head i got from a buddy its off a del so not ur what the block was but everything went great will i had to put the timing belt on.... any sugestions pleas.... Its a little short it should work... i though...

^. If you loosen the tensioner bolt, it'll drop the main pulley out of place and give you slack on the belt. Once the bet is in position, have a friend crank the main pulley back with a breaker bar (or in some special cases, a specific tool that fits into the main pulley) until the belt is taunt with a very slight bend if given pressure and tighten the bolt back up.
