South Bay Surfer

I have a 95 civic Dx with a D15 motor that consumes oil like it's gas. It seems like just a matter of months before the engine will die. The thing is, i'm a college student, meaning i'm low on money, and i also jes recently got married and have a baby on the way! I need reliable transportation for cheap! So i've been looking for a D16 single cam vtec motor (96-2000). In order to save money, is it possible to use my exsisting 95 Dx tranny and bolt on a newer single cam vtec motor off a 96-00 civic? And is there anything else i would have to purchase in order to do this swap?(Maybe vtec wiring. I heard that all Canadian civics come with the vtec wiring. Is this true? Because my civic is made in Canada.) Because i heard with D-series engines, you can mix and match trannies wit other D-series engines. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
