Cylinder head swap question..
I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a swap question..I had a d16z6 head that was sent out for a port and polish and upgraded camshaft for my 90 civic..Unfortunately my car was crashed up a bit so I would like to swap the head into either a 95 ex (direct swap) or a 97 ex..If I get a 97 ex how easy is the head swap for that car if possible..

Re: Cylinder head swap question.. (Kilohead36)
the head will bolt up on the y8 no problem but due to differances in combustion chamber design youll loose adout a half point of compression. depending on the quality of the port job and the specs of your cam you may not realize any gains due to the loss in compression

Not if he installs the head and cam correctly. There will be an issue, however, with the head being OBD1 and the car's harness being OBD2. I assume you mean that you'd be choosing between an EG or an EK for the car/motor to start with, so forgive me if I assumed incorrectly.

Nope. What i've heard is that you have to dremel out the mounting holes for the dizzy to get the Y8/Y7 one to fit, or you can repin the Z6 for obd-2 (Which I have no clue how to do).

Re: Cylinder head swap question.. (BauleyCivic)
yeah, that's what I heard as well
I'm actually really interested to know what other sensors need rewired, I was gifted a d16z6 that was making noises from the bottom half, and is now missing the oil pan....but the car is OBII with the y7, and I also have two IM for a Z6, and I konw that the sensors on the IM are different....
anytime I've asked or searched people say to use the OBDII - I harness, but that'll only take care of the ecu....
