Default CX or DX

Is there really a big difference in the 93 civic hatch CX compared to DX, besides HP, Air Cond, Side moldings, Weight. And if why do most go with cx.

well you pretty much took care of all the differences except price... haha

the cx is preferred if one plans to do an engine swap and drag the car... the dx is preferred if one wants some luxuries... but if you can care less how fast your et's are then go with the 93 si, it weighs alot more than the other 2 but you are also getting comfort, the sohc vtec, and rear disc breaks... it all depends what you plan to do.

i have a 92 cx, the stock engine really really sucks, haha. but its cheaper, and swap is easy. plus 92 cx, but i belive only canada made ones are pre wired for vtec.

fair warning, the CX is seriously stripped. It is a completely different car than the Si. Even the seats are crappy (no cloth ). For swaps though, they can't be beat. Even the d16z feels like a nice motor in the CX

Pretty much mirroring what everyone else has said. CX and VX are the most factory lightened Civics you can find (VX weighs less because of the alloy wheels). Less sound deadening material and lack of power steering are the main factors (because A/C could be a option on any model). Although the CX/VX didn't have simple **** like an adjustable steering column, rear wiper, clock, storage pockets in the doors (although the VX did have a tach and shift light).
A DX is a CX with power steering and other usless crap.

The 92-93 CX weighs less then the 92-93 VX. And we all change are rims at one point in time, so why not just get the lighter car in the first place.

I'm just nit-picking so bear with me. 92-93 VX/CX were the same curb weight, 2094. Then in 94-95 the CX got some extra fat weighing in at 2108 (where that came from, I don't know). Honda purposely tried to keep the VX slimmer because that was their fuel efficient VTEC-E model.

Your DX should have automatically come with power steering.

I reiterate the point made earlier that it probably won't matter which one you get especially since whatever car you end up buying might/might not have options installed. Figure out if you want A/C or a tach or whatever and try to find that in the cars available...most important though get something which is clean or been taken care of (even if you dont care about looks) and get something cheap so you have money to spend on improving your ride.

Are you swapping a motor into it or leaving it stock and bolting on parts. The dx is more comfortable, comes with some extras, but if you want to build a lil racer then the cx is good but the vx is better.

could it be the passenger side airbag in the newer CX models?

im selling my vx hatch 95..... but i would get the dx over the cx because for the time being it gives out more hp which = more fun.....you can always strip the car to your liking of lightness but its hard to get a cx and put in sound deadening materials in it so start w/ the dx and strip away as you please

So the CX and VX weigh just about the same...2094-2108...what about the DX/LX and SI/EX? Also, If I was going to do a B series swap, would it matter what trany I used? Is the SI one better then the VX one etc? or are they all geared the same?

Argh! You are right!
Although power steering was not available as a individual option, it was standard with the slushbox equipped DX's (which was considered an option). Poop on me.

You would use a tranny that fits a b-series motor. The d-series trannies won't work.

Your DX should have automatically come with power steering.

Not all DX's come with power steering; mines came with assisted power steering, which isnt truly power steering but a mechanism that allows you to steer easier. Some dont even come with that. Mines didnt come with a passender side mirror or a clock either. A/C was included though. Lastly some come with tilt steering while the cx definitly doesnt.

What is a good "B" trany to look for?
