Default cv joint question?

ok here goes, i have a 94 dx hb. I had a prob with my throw out barring, which was not fixed. When i turn the car on there is a noise , but that gets less when it warms up. Now my boots ripped a while ago, and now when i drive starit from the left side i here a thumping sound. Sounds like its coming from the wheel. i was sure its my axel, but when i turn right it goes away. when i turn left it makes less of a sound, but is at its worst when iam driving strait. I thought axels didnt make noise if you are driving strait, when they are fucked! also i know i need to fix this **** but iam saving for a swap, thats why i didnt really fix this stuff. the reason i brought up the barring is just to tell you guys all the details.

if it's going to be awhile before you do the swap, you need to fix the torn cv boots. they don't cost a whole lot ($10-20) and they are not that hard to fix. get a service manual (if you don't already have one) since it'll come in handy for the swap, too. each one shouldn't take you much more than an hour if you've ever taken axles out before. if you haven't, now's a good time to learn.

p.s. watch out for all the grease on the inside of the rims...

Not good. How long have your boots been ripped? Your axles are TOAST dude! First, the cv joints will only "click" as you make turns, but when they make noise as you are going straight... well that's really bad. It's dangerous to drive a car in that condition.

If you're short on cash, get some cheap axles from autozone... They are 60 bucks a peice and are also a peice of cake to install. Once you take off the 32mm with a huge cheater bar and get the ball joint separated it's plug and play. My friend and I did the job in just a few hours and we have zero experience... You can do it!!!
