Custom Turbo List?
Hey Guys. I'm currently building a custom turbo kit which my friends are helping me with. Its a T25 for my 95 civic ex D16z6 Vtech. My question is I think i got all of the items but i want to make sure. list below
Garret T25 Turbocharger
Exhaust Manifold
Vortech Fuel Pressure Regulator
Autometer Boost/Vaccum Gauge
Autometer Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge
Gauge Pillar
AEM Fuel Rail
255 Walbro Fuel Pump
Front Mount Intercooler
Intercooler Piping
Missing Link For Vaccum/Boost for the Map Sensor
Downpipe
2.5 Skunk 2 Catback Exhuast
Oil lines
Those are the items i have my question is there any other ones. Plus will i need water lines. And also will i be fine without a Apex'i VAFC II for a week or 2.
Any response is much appreciated thanks guys.

Re: Custom Turbo List? (spicoli)
Uh, what kind of fuel management are you going to be using?
Your basic turbo setup consists of these parts:
Turbo
Manifold
Downpipe
Charge Pipes
BOV
Intercooler
Oil Lines
Fuel Management
Boost Gauge

Re: Custom Turbo List? (civproject14)
you wont need the aem fuel rail for your setup unless your sole purpose is for a place to connect a fuel pressure gauge (which you didnt list). so youre probably going to be fine with the stock fuel rail. also for not running a fuel management system you wont need the fuel pump (though i highly reccomend that you have fuel management before you drive it).
blow off valve is a good idea unless you only plan on running the 4/5 psi that this turbo by itself is probably gated for. those low boost levels dont require a BOV however one would never hurt, plus you probably want that "cool" pssh sound.
One important thing that you left out which would help us out in giving advise is what boost levels you will plan to be running or rather what HP you are looking to acchieve. what would pass for one setup wouldnt for another.

I don't know what you want in your setup but this is what I set up for my lil bro.
-Garret T3 turbo
-Tubular polished manifold
-FMIC
-Greddy Type-S BOV
-Vortech 12:1 FMU
-Walbro 255LPH fuel pump
-Missing link
-Tripe gauge pillar
-Autometer boost gauge
-Autometer oil pressure gauge
-Autometer air/fuel gauge
-Steel braided oil feel line
-Oil return line
-Misc. fittings, nuts, bolts, washers, T's.
-Custom 3" downpipe
-Custom 2.5" exhaust piping
-OBX-R exhaust
The car runs perfect.

If you know a really good junkyard with lots of DSM's, or a donor car with a turbo and intercooler...it will be a great start. You can use an HF manifold and have someone or you can fabricate a turbo flange to adapt the turbo onto it.
If you use an OEM turbo and intercooler from a turbocharged car it will save you lots of money. Just make sure they are in good condition before you do any fabricating.
You can also get some DSM 450cc injectors and use a injector resistor box to work them. Inexpensive and works.
Piping can be done at a willing exhaust shop. Should be no more then $200.
Exhaust piping and downpipe can also be fabricated there. It will cost you way less if you can fabricate and weld your own pipes, flanges, etc.
You can pick up a 1G DSM BOV..that works great and saves you lots of $$$.
Those are the big stuff to get you started.....If you're lucky you can build a turbo set up for around $500...

Re: (turboimports)
If your even going to spend all that money on turbo then get some good fuel management. That FMU **** is a joke and problem waiting to happen.

It all again depends on what turbo you get. The T3 I got for my lil bro was one off of a Saab 900...It spooled up at around 3krpm...It's a pretty small turbo to me.
