Default CRV engine in a CIV

I have this friend who drives a '95 civic dx coupe. He's looking to drop in a new engine within the next six months or so. After finding out that the new Si's aren't really faster than his car (he raced on and they wre dead even!)he's now looking for something even faster than that. Since the B-16 and B-18 engines don't have very high torque ratings we were thinking about looking into a CRV engine. (160 hp-160 tq.), Is the engine too big and gonna need a lot of fabrication in the engine bay, like a H-22 transplant, or can it be done fairly easily?

The CRV motor will bolt right into your friends Civic. The CRV motor is very similar to an Integra LS motor, which I'm sure you know bolts right in. But keep in mind, he'll need to change out the intake manifold, because it's very tall. He can purchase a Skunk2 manifold or search the local junkyards for a factory Integra LS mani.

edit: if he finds a factory manifold, ask for the LS cams as well.

Which generation CRV engine are you talking about? B20B or K24A? A B20B/Z will drop right in, but its not 160 hp/160 torque.

it will drop rite in but you have to change the Intake manifold...
Most likely he'll have to buy a Longblock for anywehre from 6 - 800$ and then buy a tranny..I suggest GSR or ITR...

Keep in mind...The sleeves on a B20 motor are very weak so if your friend decides to build this motor, I suggest Golden Eagle Godzilla sleeves..

there are many topics already about the whole B20 world so just search and do some hw on it...good luck

The usdm b20b's are only 126hp, while the usdm b20z's are 146hp.
I think all jdm b20's are 146hp.
