Default Crazy Idol Problems

I have a '00' Honda Civic EK Hatch and when I start it up it starts a crazy rev. High and low high and low all on its own . I dont know what RPM it revs up to tho because I dont have a Tacho. Anyone know what may be the cause of this and what I will need to do to fix it? Any help would be good.

check all your vaccuum lines to make sure they are connceted, not dry rotted or cracking, then clean your IACV.

if none of those work, check your PCV valve, if it fails it can cause that, and its very cheap to fix.

also wanna lookat the FITV

He had Idol problems too...

But if you mean IDLE, you should take the car to a mechanic because there are a million things that could be wrong. It took my months to figure out why mine did that exact same thing. Turned out to be the o2 sensor on the TB.

any codes? if yes then find out which ones, if not, most likely vaccum leak, bubble in coolant, or possibly iac but doubtful if no code.

feel around make sure no leaks, if theres a bubble then on a cold start open your radiator cap and let it run till the bubbles stop, add coolant if neccessary.

the o2 sensor on the throttle body eh? i really hope you were heavily inebriated or on some kind of non-OTC drug when you posted that garbage. no wonder why it took you months.. you were probably looking for the TPS on the exhaust manifold.. im not trying to bully you, nor do i want you to post a comeback to what i've said, im simply just trying to point out the fact that you sir should not be tryin to point someone in the right direction when you clearly dont know what your talking about. To the OP, search on how to tighten the wax screw inside of the FITV, do it, and afterwards bleed the coolant system.. 99% chance this will solve your problem

Well, an O2 on the throttle body would give you a bad idol... (Idol purposefully placed to add to the confusion)

OP, you will need to check all the hoses first. You can disconnect each, one by one and plug the hole with your thumb (Or finger which ever you like best) If your idle stabilizes, then you found your problem. If it does not, your next step will be the ICAV. If that does not correct the problem, you might want to substitute your O2 with a known good one to see if it is working properly.

That is the order I would do it in....

And please, don't try to screw an O2 into your throttle body.
