Default couldnt break 80mph tonight.

so i took my OEM airbox, and installed a SRI arm, connecting to the airbox.

Things were good, untill my drive home i couldnt break 80mph. It just felt like at WOT i couldnt get above 80mph in 5th....its almost like i was going up a big hill, i was infact going downhill.

I did have the car running a total of an hour (took a long drive+idle), so i dont know if heat is the issue.

New plugs, cap/rotor, fuel filter wires, airfilter, fuel pressure is good.

i thought i fixed this, but the second i replaced the OEM arm with the aftermarket one, things went back to normal...shouldnt be like this..

could a leak after the TB cause this? maybe pressure loss?

Considering I have yet to see a US speed limit >75mph, you really have no reason to go over 80. Stop complaining.

Texas has some 80 mph highways... don't ask me why I know this lol

btw my tired old D16 hits about 105, but it's mostly stock and soon to be swapped for a dohc, so yeah...

its a d16y8 5speed, if i already didnt state that. Dont steel my thread n00bs.

Fukn with the OEM arm on there i could easily get past 80 like its nothing. And expletive that 75mph ****, i dont speed, and that has nothing to do with my problem. If i cant break 80, even with downshifting, thats an issue.

If i leave it in 5th, at 1/4th throttle then i can break 80mph....

could it be timing? or just a shitty SRI intake arm not sealing up to the OEM airbox?

I have a 98 EK with a H22A in it and I hit 130...I don't think the speedometer would go any more though.

Just go to a lower gear. What motor does your car have?

Yea, you have soemthing krunk. I have a 95 LX (d15 sohc) and it'll do 105 in 5th (but give'er time to get there). I assume when you say SRI you mean short-ram-intake. Unfortunately, any air you pull from under the hood, can't be "rammed" into the intake...even moving down the road, anything behind the radiator isn't moving that fast...an SRI probably pulls the hottest air of OEM, CAI (the long ones that go down into a wheel well), and SRI...rule of thumb-and it is a general rule of thumb...every 10 degrees of air you pull heated (over STP @ 1 atm and 68°) costs you about 1 hp

its a SRI arm attached to the OEM airbox and resonator, pulling ice cold air, plus it was -15 last night, not an issue..

and with the OEM airbox ARM attached, i could easily hit "6krpms in 5th"

were talking about a change, and discussing if its from the Aluminum arm, or just my car running for over an hour, having a very negative effect on performance.

it really did feel like my ebrake was on, so i dunno if the timing was somehow pulled? it really felt like my timing was REALLy retarded.

After that highway cruise trying to keep up with the other drivers, i took it on the back roads, below 4k rpms i had very little power. Almost like my ECU was getting disrupted by a short or something over time.

I have no CEL's, and this problem has been plaguing me for a long time. No exhaust leaks either

check all the vacuum lines that run to the intake tract. Also theres 1 or 2 that go to the intake mani. you might have knoced something out or forgotten about it. a leak where u attached an arm from ur stock airbox wont do what u are mentioning, you can pull the sotck airbox off and leave just the accordian tube there and that wont even happen.....
