Default Could cluster be bad?

My speedo jumps and I replaced my VSS. My question is could the speedo cluster be shot? It tends to work every once in a while. Maybe gearing stripped? Thanks

take ur nedel off, start the car, leave it parked so it's at 0 miles, put the nedel back on, i had to do this for my si cluster, it works great now, just don't bend or brake the nedel.
