coolant temperature sensor
Can someone give me a link to this sensor at advanced auto or autozone? I bought one from advanced auto but i think i might have the wrong one. Im looking for the one that is by the thermostat housing, not the one in the head by the vtec solenoid (for b16a2). It looks like autozone has 2 different ones, the sensor with a two prong hookup and a temp switch with one hookup that looks kinda like the top of a spark plug. Thanks!

Re: coolant temperature sensor (kramer06)
The one on the head by the vtec solenoid would be your coolant temp sensor. The sensor by the thermostat is called the thermostat switch or thermostat fan switch so try searching for something like that on autozone.

Re: coolant temperature sensor (kramer06)
the two on the head are for coolant temperature sensor: the round one is for sending signal to the ECU, the spark plug looking one is for signal to the gauge cluster. The two prong round sensor on the thermostat housing is the fan switch.

ALRGIHT so i changed out the ect with a brand new one and tried clearing the engine light and still the same problem-the car will only drive after it heats up after iding about10-20 min. This went bad one night while driving, so i dont see how it could be bad wiring? Any ideas?
