Default Confusing problem

I recently swapped a CTR B16B into my 96 EX. I went to get it emissions tested and the P28 did not work. Got an ECU which is a P2P. Got it installed, drove it for a while, no codes or anything. Got home and the next day I went to start it and I got a CEL. Today, I took it to Autozone and was shown it was a P0453 error... I was told try replacing the gas cap and fill it up... then let it sit for a couple hours. I did that and it came back on. I also tried the disconnect the battery thing and it worked until I started the car back up, now my ready flags have been reset and I need to do the drive cycle all over again GRRRRR....

I have read the FFS Technet article that is referred to on here... My car is apparently equipped with an FTP sensor as it is a 1996 EX which is one of the models listed as having one, so I don't think the potentiometer trick is going to be valid for my car

I have searched for answers to this problem for the last 12 hours and cannot find anything.

Any advice would be appreciated...

P0453 EVAP voltage too high. Went in, they cleared it, told me to drive around to reset the readiness monitors, came home two hours ago, went out again to check, started car up, and again the CEL came back on... I swear this thing is mocking me...

They put a small hose on one of the EVAP vaccuum ports and connected it to the vaccuum port near the MAP sensor.

What sensor is this? I have seen other canisters without this sensor... could this be what is causing the problem?

that could be a vacuum pressure switch or pressure sensor or something and id switch the ecu again because that is an obd2 code and you had an obd1 ecu in so thats probably why it never came on, but that is a circuit code so thats where id start

When you say circuit code, does that mean the sensor is not working or what? if you could clarify... I am not familiar with all the problems of swaps and crap like that... Is it a matter of simply replacing the sensor? or could a tuning shop be able to rewire the harness in order to by-pass it?

Also I cannot switch ECU's until it passes emissions testing, because the scan tool gives a communication error due to the scan tool being for OBD2

why'd you get a p2p ecu? its for a sohc vtec motor. why not get a usdm/jdm p72(gsr) or p73(integra type r) both of which are wrong for the b16b(jdm civic type r) but they're closer then the p2p ecu. they may even solve the problem you're having. my jdm obd2a p72 doesn't even look for evap. i think. i'll check later if it does. btw that sensor looks like either a purge or vacuum solenoid. can't remember which.
