Yes, because it doesn't run the risk of hydrolocking your engine. Been there, done that, NOT putting another CAI on. NOT worth it for low single digit HP gains...

What does the Ice Box sound like? Is it like the AEM CAI or more like stock? I've got the D16Y8, and I like the sound from the CAI, and the fact that I can hear VTEC kick in.

i've had the comp ice box for about 2 years now and love it.
its pretty quiet until vtec but even then its not real lod at all.
i had a aem for a little bit and could'nt stand it it was way too loud imo.

quality is great and i really like the easy access to the filter.

Does anybody here have the Ice Box for a D16Y8? All the good reviews of the Ice Box I have seen on Honda-Tech are for B-Series engines.

they don't make them for the D series.

they are VERY VERY quite. wont be any louder then say a short ram hooked up to a stock air box with a K and N airfilter.

Can you connect a short ram to the box?

the Comptech Ice Box is designed after the Mugen Air Box. In fact, some might say that it is even a direct copy. A guy I know that lives in Sacramento close to where Comptech's headquarters and works there as well was saying that Comptech was looking at a few of the customer's cars with the Mugen box trying to desing a copy for themselves. A Mugen box at a fifth of the price is o-tay in my book. BTW, I have a Mugen box and its awesome. Very quiet even under load. In the summer months , I'll take the top cover off for even more flow and in the winter, put it back on for cautionary reasons. Hope all this help somewhat.

It does a little bit but if you look at the Mugen box, it is enclosed and if you remove the cover, the increased flow outweights the slightly higher air temps. Plus a Hondata I-manifold gasket will take care of that.
