I have aftermarket suspension and lower rear control arms. Also a rear disc conversion. Would they refuse me because if this for the rear trailing arm bushings?

I just bought a 2000 EJ6 LX 5-spd with 150k miles. Nothing wrong with the motor but I would like to switch to synthetic because I do lots of city driving with the A/C on. I'm worried the switch to synthetic would cause some seals to fail, but as the TB & seals were just replaced, that isn't likely to happen with all of them.

How likely is the rear main seal's failure? Anyone know what mileage at which that's to be expected in general?

I've switched to synthetic at 140k and no issues at all. I've broken in engines with synthetic and had no issues. I also noticed my valve lash ceased opening up after a switch to synthetic, leading me to believe that cam wear had ceased.

Has anyone gotten their trailing arm bushings replaced for free from Honda or do they charge an exorbitant amount to do this repair?

Brake lights seem to be a problem also from what I was reading on other Honda forums for a Del Sol.

I know mine had an issue.

Take it to a facility to have it adjusted more than likely you rim/tire option is sized different from stock. usually cost between $75-$100

Is there a time limit to safety recalls? Just bought mine (98 HX) and it has not yet had the floor mat recall done.

Thanks - George

They must replace seatbelts or any safety restraint system for free.

IDK about the other stuff. usually they tell you the TSBs are out of date and wl not fix.. but someone post up if they replaced any of the above TSBs

Has anyone had problems with water leaking? I get a drip on my foot from time to time in my 1995 Civic DX Coupe.

Not true. I can't get the seatbelts replaced in some of my Hondas due to the fact that the seatbelts just plain aren't made anymore and all remaining stock is gone!

wow. lots of really good information here.
i need to have Honda fix my seatbelts here soon.
i might fix my antenna soon too. i rarely use the radio, but it'd still be nice to have it working properly.
i would fix the hood latch, but it's really not that big of a deal.

So all of these TSB bulletins means that they have to fix the problems for free?

I have a 1995 Del Sol and the plastic tab portion of my front turn signal lights break where they screw down, instead of constantly replacing them has anyone got a way to fix them?

Just a reminder, TSB's are typically not recalls only troubleshooting guides. This means the manufacturer is under no obligation to fix these for free. Only a non-expired recall is where they will fix it without cost. The caveat to this is where either the dealer or manufacturer "Good-wills" something to either have a happy customer or get you out of there because they are tired of hearing the whining. :-D

Hey 98 Civic 1.6 auto tran, recently my car started making an odd grinding or noise, it usually starts after i drive about 10km at 100kph then when i slow to 80 it stops allowing me to speed up again, it will then start again a few km down the road. The odd time it will start at lower speeds but always stops when i slow down for a short period. all fluids are topped up... any ideas?

Most of this stuff was pretty common. When I bought my civic the one that surprised me was the windshield wiper motor.

Door panels at least on my hx are crap. They are like thin plastic under that vynl

I have a random clicking in my ecm that while it is clicking makes the CEL come on and other dashlights. I have taken it to my local repari shop who has replaced ignition switch, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap, rotor. I have replaced the O2 sensors, exhaust mainifold, cad converter, vehicle speed sensor, and the ecm. Still will randomly start clicking and cause my car to stall and die. At any speed.

I am surprised, with the amount of cold solder joints on the speedometer circuit boards, there hasn't been a recall for inspection / resoldering.
