coilovers/shocks setup
i was looking for a new suspension setup from what i have now. i was looking for a good setup for daily, cheap, and something that would handle turns. i was looking to go coilovers but i was wondering is it really worth the money or should i just get some shocks and springs. and if so, what kind of coils or shocks/springs should i get ?

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
ground control /koni's is a very popular budget setup.
rides and handles well, you can order custom spring rates
im looking into the PIC's for 860 you can get full coilovers and i have heard good things about them

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
ground controls and koni's...im starting to buy my setup know and the good thing is you can by it in pieces (GC, then front shocks, then rear shocks) so no need to break the bank at once lol just my 2 cent

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
someone said lower the shock from the bottom perch.
does that mean drilling a hole in the bottom shock mount and mounting it differently? or does it mean spacing the top differently... Plz explain what you meant

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
^^ no, where it mounts to the cars suspension, it moves up and down to lower or raise the car.
noithing more is needed to install them, that isnt needed for normal coilovers.
id go function and form type 1 or 2. they are great go really low and the ride is fanstic, and type 2s are adjustible.

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
yeh I get it now. Raise/lower the spring from the bottom spring perch on the shock. I thought dude meant the lower shock mount where it bolts to the control arm.. nvm
Get koni-yellows and ground control springs :D

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
its not the spring perch its the actual mount on the shock.
where it bolts onto the car, spins up and down, either makeing it shorter or longer
there for lowering or lifting it.

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
Here you go pal, if they would ship something like this brand new imagine how long this lasts (if you read in the suspension forums that **** don't last). Koni/GC Lifetime warranty and a couple of companies that have been around the block and still here.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...n+form+leaking
For the TS/OP if you want affordable and great quality I would look into progress about $573 full coilovers and 1 year warranty not Made in Taiwan/China but the USA. I think these guys have been around longer than FF as well.
http://www.progressauto.com/products.../productID/595
The other set I would look at is PIC Apex's which are made in Taiwan/China but the Quality control is 2nd to none as is their customer service.

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
Definitely check the suspension forum. Lots of people are having good luck with the super cheap coilovers (F&F, KSport, Omni, etc.) Lots of other people are having horrible luck with them blowing out, or even breaking completely and dropping the car on the rim. I've seen threads with pics of new Omnis broken in half for no reason... They're not going on my car.
Personally, I'd rather have quality, even if I get less features. Konis are lifetime warrantied. If they break, they'll replace them. Eibach too. Too bad they never break. After several years of use, Konis may have to be revalved.... they'll do that. You cannot go wrong with either of those companies.
For the money, the Koni Yellow/GC combo is a hell of a setup. I would totally recommend them over cheap Third World coilovers. Especially if you're planning on running slammed.
I personally couldn't afford yellow/GC, so I went with Koni Red / Sportlines (which is about the same setup minus the adjustability that I didn't need.... also about $200 cheaper than yellow/GC, but still has all the quality of Eibach and Koni. I can vouch that the Koni Red/Sportline setup is amazing for the price... I paid under $500 shipped. The Reds do not have adjustable compression, and the rebound range isn't as much as on yellows, but trust me, they're more than stiff enough for anything short of heavy track use.

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
your answer is here, look no further...
koni yellows and ground control coilovers
runs you about 1100 for a setup, but it'll make your car handle like **** on ice
with hard nipples.
in other words, I haven't heard of D2 or function and form, so don't buy any know-name brands. maybe get some KYBs? they are as cheap as possible for nice suspension...

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
STOCK_SOHC_DX--- thats only one coilover, which was replaced.
that has noithing do with the fact they wont last, which they do. buddy has been tucking for 3 years, on type 2s with no issues what so ever.

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
yes that was relevant. Because kittens and warm milk is what you'll want when you get koni yellows/ground controls... kittens and warm milk, because your car will feel so nice that kittens will come to your house and have babies, which will produce warm milk and that attracts hot chicks.
ground controls and koni yellows. Or KYBs, if you're a cheap bastard like me
EDIT - to the peep who posted above me - I'm not talking about lowering anyones car, and I'm not talking about autocross. Koni yellow/ground controls ftw. I'm talking about hard nipples and how your car handles... If anything I'm talking about lifting the car above the standard ride height..

Re: coilovers/shocks setup
^^ you gotta be kiding me.
well kittens do work lol, my friends love mine, but puppys work way better, untill they turn into a fat cow like mine.
gc/konis are very nice and the ride is fantstic, but they dont cost a grand, thats getting into custom spring rates, and i dont think he wants to go there.
