Coilover install questions...
So I'm going to attempt to install my coilovers myself since I want to learn. I just need to find out some stuff. I have some cheap *** coilovers on my car at the moment on some KYB's.
This is what I'm going to replace it with...
So what I was wondering was...
What do I need to take off from my current setup to put onto the new setup? That rubber mount thing for sure and what else?
Thanks for the help.

what do u mean by rubber mount thing? you mean the brown rubber looking pieces in the middle? you're suppose to cut those bump stops in half..
but just take off whatever you're going to replace with the new setup.

if i were you, i'd buy 4 new pillow mounts for your new suspension. it will make install time cut in half. you won't have to do anything bu remove your old assembly and pop the new ones in. total install time <30 minutes!
check and recheck all torque specs!

-As stated above you WILL need the black tophat, the bushing inside it and another washer that goes on top of the tophat.
-It looks like you do already have the correct size washer that is on the shock rod, it is to stay underneath the tophat. This washer is critical as it prevents the shock rod from pushing thru the tophat and into your hood.
-Make sure you look at your stock assembly when you remove it and make sure you copy the assembly as far as what piece goes where and you should be all set.
Its pretty easy to do.
So what are the new units?

Pillow mounts would be cool but with the coilovers on there the install is not going to take long because you won't have to compress the springs to take them apart or put the new ones together. It will take you an extra 15 min per assembly to get the stuff you need off your current setup and put it on your new setup. Just make sure you put the new stuff together just like the old stuff is. Easy.

I'd put some anti-sieze on those collars. Not a huge fan of locking collars like that. After they get all ****ed up with dirt and grime, they're a pain to break loose sometimes.
