Code Problem

Well my car threw a code today so i got out the trusty paper clip to check it but for some reason it will not flash the code.

Not a good connection....i've had to reposition my paper clip a few times.

You are also turning the key to "on" correct?

yes i got the key on also i tried sticking the plug about 50 billion times last night. i dont know what the deal is.
