Code 1: Oxygen Sensor Problems
I completed my OBD1 B16A2 swap into my 97 Civic a while ago and now I have a CEL. Its code 1 for malfunctioning or disconnected O2 sensor. It doesnt come one right away, but only comes on when either decelerating in third gear or pushing hard in fourth. I removed the B16s O2 sensor and put one of the O2 sensors from my stock Civics header onto the B16 and it still does the same thing.
When doing the swap I had to extend the O2 sensor wires about a foot. Would this extension cause a voltage drop over the distance? Or can it just be that this O2 sensor is also bad?

didnt u have to convert it from a one wire O2 into a four wire O2??
I would try another O2 and if that doesnt work.....check all the O2 wires

what kind of wires did you use to extend?? that shouldnt be a problem as long as you wired them correctly with the right gauge wire. did you try putting in a different o2 sensor?
Yeah the o2 sensor that the swap came with was a 4 wire, same as the o2 sensors on the stock 97 civics motor. So i switched o2 sensors with the primary on the old motor and it still does the same thing. I used something like 14 gauge wire to extend the sensor. Im going to recheck my connections and wiring tomorrow.
Mine does the same exact thing, except its still the stock D-16y7. I just replaced the O2 sensor with a replacement sensor I bought from oxygensensors.com. Stock replacement with the Honda plug. It doesnt come on all the time, usually under easy acceleration. Car runs normally.
Can it be that the rear o2 sensor needs to also be replaced?
Gas mileage remains about 35 mpg, no other CEL's, no hesitation..............

Yea I got the same problem.
Haunting me for two swaps!
First I had my 99 b18c1 in my 95 vx, and i only had one O2 sensor (running obd1 ecu) and it threw a code only sometimes while decelerating. If I shut the car off, and turned it back onb, the CEL would go off. But the code was still in the ecu memory cause I could jump the ecu and it would throw CEL 1.
Now I swapped my 99 b18c1 in my 96 dx, and I have two O2 sensors, running obd2 ecu, and I get the same cot damn **** only i am throwing code 63 (2nd o2 sensor). comes on sometimes while accelerating in 4th/5th. I CANNOT turn off the car and make it go away this time. It stays on, and I have to reset the ecu to make it go away, but it comes back on with about 50 miles of driving.
Starting to thjink something wrong with my damn engine.
Anybody have any clues? I used the main o2 from my dx swap for the secondary o2 in the b18c1.

Geez, I made this post a while back. I figured out the problem with my car. It seems as though I received a faulty ecu with my swap. I tested the ecu out on my friends car and it caused it to do the same thing. So after hassling my motor distributor for another ecu he gave me a good one. Now I have no more problems with the O2 sensor.
Ohh yeah, I also shortened the O2 sensor wires a tad and it did the same thing with the old ecu, so I knew it wasnt my wiring.
