Default clutch or tranny ... help

Hey, well there's a guy that wants to trade my Eg for. His 95 gsr but the problem is that his clutch is really. But. I. Mean really soft and. It almost hits the ground. So every gear its good execpt 3rd it grinds at high rpms , he says its the pressure plate and the clutch , I said its the syncros .. what could be possible ?

If its only grinding while shifting into 3rd gear. 10 to 1 its the synchros. Theyre probably bad. Hes probably trying to pull a fast one on you. I wouldnt trade him your car, especially if your eg tranny shifts fine.

95 GSR...hydraulic clutch right? sounds like someone didn't bleed the clutch.... and yes, the 3rd gear deal is the synchros....unless it's some fairly odd coincidence... aside from the gear issue, the clutch is either soft because it wasn't bled or the clutch plate is gone. If it was the pressure plate, it wouldn't do that. It would shimmy horribly when you press in the clutch, but it wouldn't grind just one gear. hope that helps.

Yea that's what I said too . But the trippi part its that my friend has an Ls. With a stage 3 clutch and will grind. On 3rd gear as well he decided to change clutch. And noise went away with in a week ..

that's very odd...it may be grinding due to the lack of hydraulic pressure to the slave cylinder, which is what gives it that "fall to the floor" feeling.

Mine is the same way i got it checked out by the honda shop and they told me the syncros, and its only in third gear, but my clutch isnt soft ~.~

But lucky me, my motor is in my shed being built so ill drive the ol 1.6 untill it hits the *******

holy hell, why would you trade a b16 hatch for a gsr? Keep the hatch! Boost that beast.
