. clutch question
ok, heres the problem. the throwout bearing in my clutch assembly is bad. it makes a loud rattling noise (especially in 1st and 2nd gear). what i need an opinion on is: is it worth it to take out the clutch and replace just the throwout bearing? because others have told me if i'm going to replace the throwout bearing i might as well replace the clutch too, but i don't want to have to put a new clutch in if the one i already have is fine
and what are the worst things that can happen by not replacing a bad throwout bearing?

Re: . clutch question (AzntaggeR)
It is always recommended to replace the throwout bearing when you replace the clutch. As far as not replacing it when it goes bad, you need to do that ASAP or you won't have much of a tranny left because when bearing go bad they generate alot of heat because they don't spin freely and also tend to break apart into pieces. so you definitely don't want jagged pieces of metal floating around in your tranny.
