Clutch issue
I tried searching the problem i am having with my clutch in the search part of the page, but i cant find anything close to mine. I've got a 00 si and my stock clutch was going out so a ( now ex- friend ) of mine told me he would put a new clutch in for me..... So everything was fine until the clutch would engage at different spots as in the pedal was in different spots, and I was hearing a strange noise... Something like I was spinning the tires, but it was coming from the clutch.... I was told the clutch is slipping and thats causing the noise.... So I ended up just buying an ACT clutch kit and had the stock fly wheel resurfaced.... Once again things are fine and now its making the noise again.. it only makes the noise when i take off in first gear. Its a screeching sound..... Please help

Re: Clutch issue (wearyfurball)
Its a b16a2 so its a hydro trans. Everything was replaced when I did the new clutch kit.. The clutch is a ACT heavy duty pressure plate with a 6 puck unsprung disk... and the flywheel was resurfaced.... I'm thinking its the flywheel. I think the clutch is to aggressive for the the flywheel to handle.

Re: Clutch issue (lluks_844)
i seriously doubt your flywheel is your problem unless to much material was removed when it was resurfaced preventing the preasure plate fully engaging the clutch disc to the flywheel.as far as the preasure plate and disc, why go so agressive? i doubt you need it. h.d. pr. plate and unsprung 6 puck? you cant get much more agressive. these disc are pretty much on or off like a lite switch. if your trying to slip this clutch like your o.e. set up, that is most likely the cause of your noise, not to say that it is

Re: Clutch issue (nub)
Throw out bearing and pilot bear are all new. The ACT clutch kit isnt the most aggressive one they have its a moderate clutch kit... It sounds like a screaching noise.... Like a errrrrrr....... Almost like a pealing out sound....... It only happens when I take off, and when it makes the noise if I pop the clutch it will jerk like if you take off in 2nd gear kind of thing..... Like I stated I think its the flywheel, but idk.....

Re: Clutch issue (wearyfurball)
If you have a 6 puck unsprung disc that is not a "moderate" setup. I wouldn't run that on a street car unless someone paid me to. The unsprung discs are noisy and tough to launch smoothly. Like nub said, they are like an on off switch. It's either engaged or it's not, not much in between. That's just the price you pay for running that type of disc. If your car is driven on the street and isn't making crazy power I would swap in something more streetable. Go with a sprung hub, organic lined disc and you'll be a lot happier

Re: Clutch issue (FarinaMotorsports)
It is a moderate clutch...... ACT makes clutch way more aggressive clutches.... But thats not the issue, and Im sorry I WILL NOT go to an organic disc, ceramic is 100% better.... Its not that I dont like the clutch or I cant drive it or any of those things. I just want to know what the hell the noise is.......
