CLUTCH - 6 vs 4 springs..
im in the process of putting a clutch into my LS powered hatch because it would shake about 75%of the time while getting the car to go into first....anyways...i bought a used clutch from a friend and i noticed it has 4 springs.....the stock LS has 6....whats the difference between the amount of springs????
another thing, when i pulled my clutch out, i noticed that the pads on my clutch were still pretty thick....both clutch have the same amount of pad on the flywheel side but the LS clutch has more pad then the other on the flywheel side....i also got a pressure plate from my friend and said its a bit stiffer then the stock LS i have...should i keep the LS clutch and use the other pressure plate i got thats stiffer then the LS PP???what do you guys think would cause my car to shake while getting into first gear????like i said, the clutch still had a nice amout of pads...

the shaking is caused by the flywheel not being turned. When changing your clutch you should go and get the flywheel turned cause after a while the flywheel will start to build up a layer glaze from heat, its just like brakes, if you dont get it turned it will do that, had it happen on my 98 EK

you mean like resurfacing the flywheel???
or do i just flip the flywheel around???lol, may sound noobish but this is my second clutch install....first was on a d series that didnt need anything done to the flywheel...

mine was resurfaced by a friends dad....on a brake lathe....he can do anything! pushed in to driving out with a new clutch, short throw shifter, slave cylander, and the system blead....1.5 hours! I kidd you not
But get the fly wheel surfaced and you will have it done and not have to wonder if its in bad shape

That's all that that should take you though .
@ OP:
I'm not sure if that's indefinitely the problem but yeah, you probably do need to get your flywheel resurfaced, as somebody said it up there (and quite well) it's just like the rotors.

Re: (Syndacate)
are you sure it the clutch? could it be the axles?
Clutch chatter is normal with heavy pressure plates, but not much like you describe. Id try using it for awhile and see if it goes away. mine was pretty bad for a week or more. it was glazed from previous owner.
