Default clutch?

ok quick question. is it my clutch or is my pressure plate overheating, this is the second time in the past three months.

first time I was going up a steep driveway and revved up a little with the clutch in a little and when I let off the clutch the clutch just spun, didn't go anywhere. I had also been driving all day.

this time I had only been driving for about ten min. and tried to take off from a stop and it happened again.

I know it is the clutch spinning because of the unforgettable clutch smell, and not the axles.

Other times it grips great. If it is my clutch about how much time, (estimably) could be left? I never had one go out so I don't know what to look for while driving.

Sounds to me like the clutch is just about on it's last leg. I'd throw an Exedy stage 1 in her unless your planning on making some serious power.

So about how long does a clutch usually last?

NO!!! OEM means stock. If your planning on driving your car hard you will want an upgrade clutch. This is a link to the Exedy stage 1 that I mentiond earlier. This is the same clutch I run in my lightly modded B16 powered hatch, and has lasted more than 2.5 years with plenty of "spirited" driving logged.

The Exedy Stage 1 is fine if you're going to routinely beat on the car. I myself had put in one of the Exedy OEM clutches in my RX-7 and could not believe how well it would hook up. After breaking it in properly I was able to dump the clutch at 4,000 RPM without any problems with it hooking up (not a good thing to do, but I wanted to do it to see what the Exedy OEM one would handle). The problem with stronger clutches is that they cause more strain on the drivetrain. If this is your daily driver, go with the OEM one.
