Well I have a civic coupe. stock SOHC vtec engine,I/H milled head and cam.

I went with my dads friend to a "top secret" testing ground for aprillia motorcycles USA, where they let me run 1/4 mile time and top speeds. my 1/4 mile times were all 15.0's and my top speed was 117mph does that sound right? also when doing the top speed runin 4th I could only rev to 6000rpms it wouldn't go anymore ( my speedo was stuck at 110.) but when I shifted to 5th the mphs coninued upwards still.

anyone know why this was?

it makes sense. my 97 coupe tops out at 120mph because of the governor. You're going to have to get it chipped to go faster.

what about the 4th gear topping out at 110 @ 6000rpms?

What year Civic do you have? Do the 96-2000 models have some sort of phucked up governer in 4th gear or something? I have a 95 EX with i/h/e on 15" Motegi's that's good for 130 indicated (I'm not sure what the real speed was because 1- I've heard speedos get unreliable that fast and 2-I'd reached the end of the digits on the speedo)
Oh, yeah, no I was not on a highway at the time.

in my 98 dx hatch 4th and 5th gear top out at the same speed at about 117 or so.
