Civic Si or Del Sol??
I just got a 2000 civic si not long ago. Ive been looking at the del sols lately. Not sure if i should keep the si or switch it up and go with a del sol. Alot of people have been telling me to stay away from the del sols because there "junk" i dont think they are but im not an expert. i dont really know as much about the del sols as i do with my si so any opinions or advice would help too many decisions!

This is just my opinion and my opinion only... If I had an SI in no way would I ever consider going from that to a Del Sol. The only thing I would upgrade to is a DC2 or DB8 (Integra GSR 2dr/4dr). Its all up to you, but that is just my opinion. I would stick with the SI IMHO. GL on your decision.

Del sol's aren't junk, I've seen plenty that look better than a lot of SI's. It's all a matter of opinion. I personally, wouldn't trade/sell for a del sol, however, it's all up to you.

yeah. i think i like the del sol because of how compact it is. even though i know its heavier than the si. i mean either way im not keeping either stock and most likely not keeping the motor. so im basically just deciding between body's. but thanks for everyones opinions, it helps.

Re: Civic Si or Del Sol?? (MurdersV8s)
if you can find a del sol vtec its basicly the same motor and trans setup although i have never seen one for sale. but then again your si could probly get you an even trade for a boosted del sol with a b swap if you can bargin good
the only thing is what body style do you like the most.
oh and del sol roofs make noises some times, it sucks and replacment parts seem to be a bit more of a bitch to find but as a daily driver i cant complain much

i realy see that as being an opinion
both go 0-60 in 7 sec
both do a 1/4 mil stock in about 15.7
both had front and rear disk brakes
both sit at about 2600 lbs
if i was building a honda challange car i wouldnt do a del sol but as a daily if he wants a convertable type car the del sol vtec is great

This is true, you can make it handle well with a good suspension.
But I have yet to see any roadracing/autocross sponsored Del sols. With it's wheelbase and loose rear end, it's just a lot of effort to make an already heavy car handle better. And with the standard t-top it's more top heavy than other civics.

I own a del sol.......All of this bullshit about the top making noise and parts being hard to find and $hit is ignorant rants from typical HT people talking about **** they know nothing about. You can buy any del sol part from a honda dealer and they arent unreasonable. Majestic is the best place though.
I love my del sol and wouldn't trade it for any other honda (except an S2K lol). They are getting harder to find in good shape and are very capable cars.
I dunno what this understeer nonscence is about either. It's the same damn EG chasis as a hatch. Over steer and understeer has mostly to do with driver and suspension setup.
I'm prtial to the sol and I think it's a one of a kind honda that everybody (not just honda people) recognize. 90% of people could point out an Si in a sea of Ex's. Only us honda geeks can do that.
Build what you love....The del sol is a great car and the del sol owners are a different breed of people. They're not ******** to eachother like most other honda owners. Team Sol is very tight knit and I've made some great friends because of my car.

Re: Civic Si or Del Sol?? (SI mandy)
yeah the whole thing with the handling. i dont think that will be an issue for me. i use to own a gt mustang and that **** handled horrible! but its gone now so i have no worries.
i think im going to go with the del sol.did a bunch of research about them today plus im a girl, i like smaller cars compared to some of you boys. just gotta find a clean one now thats ready to be built. thanks for everyones opinions! and if you know anyone looking for an si let me know.

Re: Civic Si or Del Sol?? (SI mandy)
this guy doesnt want trades but see what he wants for it and see if you can sell your car for that much
its a bit of a drive for you but i would say worth it
