Default Civic Si

I'm looking for a new car at the moment, and I have heard a good bit about the Civic SI's. I'm not a huge fan of Civics, but I love hatchbacks. If I do get a Honda it will probably be an older Civic SI or an older Accord Hatch LX-i. So could I get some specs on which models had the Vtech stock? Any major problems in certain models? Do they tend to blow up after a certain amount of miles(certanly not Honda quality)? Or are they just reliable cars? Will tuning possibly limit the life of the car? What is a price range I should look for an untuned SI?

Nothing about the new ones though because I don't have the money, I don't like the look(mini-minivan?) and I don't like the specs on them either.

Thanks for any help you guys may offer.

if you are hoping to get a 99-00 SI, expect to spend atleast 12k. Then after that, comes the theft paranoia. Gonna need to invest a lot in security and tylenol. imo, it really isn't worth it. Once my car gets stolen, i'm just going to get a camry.

It better not be an 89' Camry, that's been the #1 stolen car for years now.

I have no fear of getting my Si stolen since I never drive it and it is kept in a garage. I love the car, i like it a LOT more than my other 2 hatches (88Dx and 95 Cx) it is just a better quality car and looks much better. I bought my Si almost 4 years ago w/ 24k on it for 15 out the door. It only has 30k on it now. I would do some research on various models of hondas if i were you if you don't want to pay the money up front get a Cx hatch or Dx coupe and start w/ that.

You are like me, in terms of having a daily "beater" to drive while your SI sits safely in your garage. Like Swatdog mentioned, as a daily driver there is a good chance at theft. Sucks, but that's the way it is..

NO! It was not my mom. It was some 35 year old asian lady, her husband said he doesn't think she ever hit vtec in it..it has 79k miles on it and the stock brakes still have 30% on them...I guess she only used it for freeway driving to and from work..

I was wondering what the specs are on the older models. 1990 and around that year. I heard there were some powerful Si's back then, so can anybody point me in the direction of the car, or year I'm thinking of? I'm really only wanting the hatch at the moment.
