Icon6 Civic si 2000, many trouble codes!

HI, I got many trouble code on my Civic SIR 2000 (Canadian). These are the codes i have 13, 16, 18, 54, 61. What I did to fix it at this time is:

- New first O2 sensor
- new spark plugs, dizzy cap, rotor and ignition coil

The ignition parts seemed to help alot (my the electrodes on my dizzy cap had black build up on them). My motor feels more alive...

But, it didn't solve my check engine light problem... and that prevents the car to enter VTEC mode.

Is it possible that my ECU is bad for some reason because i tried to find code 18 but it seems that it does not exist...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Converted to US codes, they would be 15,18,21, 59 and 67 :D

Seriously tho, are those ODBII codes? p0013 etc??

(and they will want Engine and any mods done to it as per Tech Forum rules)

13 is your first red flag. The "Baro" code, 9 times out of 10, means you have a bad ECU. Reset your ECU, and see what codes come back. If 13 comes back, find someone with a P2T ECU you can borrow. It's also entirely possible you're misreading the codes - if you could make a video of them all, and post that here, that might be helpful.

No Jarvis, those aren't OBD2 codes. Those are blink codes.

First, thanks for your replies and FYI, I retrieved my trouble code using the paper clip method. I counted the blinking light 1 long is the first digit and followed by short blinks are for the second digit. I don't think i misread them I did that a couple of time. Also, my EM1 has no modification on it at this moment. All parts changed for repairs are honda.

Anyhow, here is a link for the video !

Three separate systems are throwing codes - CEL, ABS, SRS

One CEL code - code 1

Five ABS codes - codes 1-3, 1-6, 1-8, 5-4, 6-1

One SRS code - code 1-1 (intermittent)

Reset the CEL, ABS, and SRS control units to see which codes return.

Here is my new video with the reset done.

Noticed a CELL CODE 1 still come up (first o2 sensor malfunction). It's strange because it's brand new!?

What's up with that?

Reset the ECU, and see if the code returns. And sincerely, thank you for posting the video. It's rare that new posters just follow the guidelines given.

So the code for the Oxygen sensor came back?

Have you followed the service manual for diagnostic steps?

No, I never had the chance to see this type of document for the o2 sensor. Will look for it and if you can post me the link it would be appreciated.

I might just have what you need. Hold that thought.

By any chance can you get to a parts store that can read your exact CEL code? 1 can mean a couple different things.

$60 just to plug in a code reader? **** that ****. Autozone and Advance both do it for free down here in the States. Don't go to a shop - go to a parts store, see if they'll do it for free for you.

I just got an ODBII reader from fleeBay that uses a free android/apple app called Torque, for about $15. It reads codes, AND gives feedback in real time! Can also do trip logging and 0-60 0-100 etc.

Find a decent seller, and don't get the cheapest ones and you should be fine..

Torque ? OBD2 Performance and Diagnostics for your Vehicle
They give a list of the ones they recommend, but I took a shot and got the vGate iCar 2, but you might get lucky with another brand too.

Yeah, its fun! Can put like both O2 sensor data and RPMs or Vaccum pressure reading on the same page and watch the readings as you rev the engine, or go under load etc lol.

The full version of Torque is only $5, but for my mom's van I didn't need all the 0-60 stuff lmao.

Just for an update on my thread: My problem was I had a check engine light for the first O2 sensor and at idle sometimes my check engine light starts blinking. I did a compression test and these are the results:

Dry compression test:
cylinder 1 - 195 PSI
Cylinder 2 - 200 PSI
Cylinder 3 - 125 PSI
Cylinder 4 - 195 PSI

Wet test (oil) compression

only did cylinder 3 and got 125 PSI (I don't think i put enough oil in cylinder will redo)

What should I do to try to fix my cylinder 3 wich has bad compression. I know my car is taking up oil like 1-2 liter a month depending on how fast i drive. The more i get in VTEC the more I am losing oil... Could it be a piston/cylinder problem or a valve problem. I don't know where to go from here...

Yes 13 16 18 54 61 where for my abs system. But, I still have problem with my engine. I have a check engine light for first O2 sensor and sometimes the check engine blinks at idle.

Well, just because it has an engine code doesn't mean it will prevent the car from engaging into VTEC. I have a p0420 code for a bad cat and it engages no problem. one of the codes must have something to do with something important, which explains why the engine retards VTEC.

If your CEL is blinking when you aren't trying to check codes, that means you have what's called a "catalyst damaging event", which means something majorly bad. When it starts blinking, you need to immediately pull over and pull the codes. The O2 sensor code, if I remember correctly, can kill VTEC until fixed.

You have a whole clusterfuck going on here, though. With that many CEL, SRS, and ABS codes, these couldn't have all started suddenly. Did you buy the car this way?
