Default Civic rear disc conversion

I'm thinking of doing a rear disc brake conversion on my girlfriend's 96 civic coupe. It does not have abs. One of my friends has some of the parts needed that are from a 99-00 civic si. I need to know all the parts that are needed to do this conversion. Do i need the master cylinder or brake booster? Or do i just need the brake proportioning valve to make it work right. I beleive my friend has most of the parts but not all. Thanks.

Default Re: Civic rear disc conversion (90AccordVTEC)

I just did a rear disc conversion on my del Sol, which is the same as a civic or integra. I found an integra rear end for $200. Just get all the control arms brakes, the whole assembly off of an integra or civic/ del Sol w/ discs. ABS doesn't metter, jsut cut the cable and don't worry about it. As for the booster, MS, and prop valve- not neccessary. You can if you want to increase brake power, but it is not a requirement. Braking power is not detracted at all. The only thing is you MUST GET THE E-BRAKE CABLES!!! This is the most important thing!!! You will have to finaggle it, but it is easy to rig. The entire assembly of arms and brakes is like 8 bolts, shouldn't take more than 1 hour to do the whole swap, maybe a little more for the E-brake. Good Luck!! if you have any more questions, just ask.
