I was going to buy an MR2 N/A, get a clip and do the swap before I got my civic. It's just too friggen hard to find a deuce unless you happen to run across one for sale down the road or something. As soon as they hit the trader, they're gone. If you decide to go with an MR2 good luck in finding one, and if you're interested I've got a shop manual on CD-ROM I'll sell ya for 15 bucks [just trying to get what I paid].

I was thinking the same thing you are. But since I had been around HONDA'S for a while, I decided to stick with the H Power. MR2's are nice, but as posted above, are a BITCH to work on. TURBO or ALL MOTA. Your decision buddy.

Re: civic or mr2 (dailygirl)
mr2 over civic would be my choice(kinda..i love them both)...but if you want to have a car that you can have fun with and be easy for you to work on then get a civic.....mr2 are a pain in the *** to work on or swapping out..and if you want to get an N/A and swap it to a turbo spec..it a bitch...very compact in engine bay....but honestly either choice would be great just $$$ difference.

I dunno, a 93 turbo mr2. You had better look over it real good, make sure it is mechanically sound., and not ragged on by the owner. My neighbor had a mr2 and that thing was nothing but problems , and like mentioned, is a bitch to work on.

Its not as difficult as you would think to work on an MR-2, but the thing is you will need to put alot more money into it then a civic. if you put the same part on your MR-2 as your civic it may cost 2-3 times more. I think i would just stick with the civic!!!

i love my MR2 turbo (of course ) as much as i do my Sol. yes, its harder to work on an MR2 than a Honda. actually, you will need to put more money into a civic to catch up with the MR2. maintenance wise, yes, the MR2 is more expensive.
well, it depends on your budget. a 93 MR2 isn't cheap. if you don't get paid well, just stick with the civic.

Re: civic or mr2 (jL iLLuZiOnz 9)
I went from a 93' Hatch Si (Supercharged) to a 91' MR2 Turbo. I personally love the MR2 much more than the Civic. Everyone says they are a PITA to work on....but its not THAT bad. I think Civic's just happen to be incredibly easy to work on. Besised, thats the "terms of agreement" if you want a mid-engine car. I drive my car a hell of a lot more often than I work on it....so I'll put up with some tricky work in exchage for mid-engine handling.
The main thing that I love in the switch was going from an economy car--made to be a sports car--to a true sports car. The way it drives and handles stock is awsome. I had so much done to my civic....but it didn't have the "complete" feeling that comes with a car designed to be fast and corner from the factory.
Add to that the fact that they are rare, and still sexy as hell more than 14 years later and u have a winner. Besides, if you want a mid engine sport car your choices are slim unless you can swing an NSX.
I searched / waited about 7 months for mine...and then I paid top dollar for it. I don't regret a thing though. I liked the Civic.....I love the MR2. I hope u will to if you decide to get one.
