Default Civic LSI 1992 distributor - will one from a 92 Prelude work?

Firstly hello all!

I hoping for a little advice and i must apologise for the lack of pictures, hopefully someone gets where im going. Failing that i will have to find that camera.

I have recently has what i presume is a dead bearing in my distributor (no spark, fuel going fine, red dust in the dizzy cap, higher resistance to turn rotor arm manually).

I have today been searching breaker yards and i was only able to source the same part from a 1992 Prelude. I am certain the part is the same, and it fits in the car. The only difference is one of the plugs has an extra two wires running to it. The plug is an 8 pin rather than a six pin. I can easily ID which wires are the same and which are the additional two.

I am kind of hoping that the additional two wires are for sensor/ecu feedback which is not needed on my `92 civic? Im hoping i can litterally chop and replace the plug to make the part fit...

am i dreaming?

thanks all
