Re: civic headlights (Sohc Driver)
I owned a set that met their demise at the hands of a jeep cherokee. I liked them, but my only complaint was the purple ion on the lens. After a few months, it got old.

You bought the ion models then. The regular black housing lights do not look like that. They hold up pretty well. I had a tough time getting them to fit initially as if they weren't cut right, but after I finally got them to fit I haven't had a problem taking them on or off again. You want these right?

Re: civic headlights (96 SOHC VTEC)
man, why waste money on buying new ones when you can just paint them...all it takes is patience and time, but it looks a hell of a lot doper than the black ones i think...here are mine...smoked....
i like mine alot....look really like the ctrs but...i dont know, people trip on me for smoking mine and not "blacking them out"...anyways, yeah that is it...time and patience.and not they do not leak

Re: civic headlights (kidkombo)
i kinda regret getting mine. hmotorsports have them, and you can name your price. got mine for $120 w/ blue ion lens. IMO, i shoulda gone with kidkombo's way. about 3-4 pages back on this section, somebody put up a how-to on doing them yourself. and you won't have that clear corner lens. it'll look close enough to be jdm. good luck.

Re: civic headlights (VoltageLS)
Hey, that looks great! How and what did you use to accomplish that exactly?
1. take bumper off...
2. take bulbs off or wait till later....i had city lights, so i had to take off my bulbs before i went on to 3
3. take your headlight and preheat your oven to about 150 F (a modest temp, but not hot enough to melt the plastic....)
4. once preheat, put your headlights inside and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes, or until it is easy to pry open the light housing from the headlight casing...
5. once you have the two apart, take the lense and unbolt the reflectorizor thing that ou are going to paint... ( it isnt the one left on the grey plastic housing....)
6. once that part is unbolted, mask the necessary areas and pay particular attention to the area with which the corner is reflected...
7. spray primer directly onto the reflector lense thing....spray maybe 3-4 coats...i made it thick to make sure it will stick...
8. after that is all dried and done with, take your color of choice....( i used "smoke mc", but you can use black, gloss black, flat black, ultra flat black, or blue or red, or some ricey *** color...)
9. OPTIONAL: depending on your preference, you can either let the finish be or put a coat of clearcoat for it to shine....(on mine, i said fucc it..)
10. once everything is dried and fresh bolt the reflector to the lense...
11. clean out the ridge where the stock silicon sealant...this takes hella time but is worth it to make it look hella clean....
12. after you clean out the ridge, get silicon sealant from shucks or kragen or watever the hell you guys call it and apply liberally on the ridge that you just cleaned out...in my situation, i used plastic welder that caulks, seals and bonds....i dont know where to get this **** but you can get it anywhere....
13. once you do that, carefully take the lense that you painted and line up the clips and put it together...
14. after you get the whole thing clipped together...let them sit for an entire day for the welder or watever to dry up and seal, then.....
15. crack a 22 of HG and say to yourself....i made some "ctr's".....
if you have any questions feel free to PM me...aight hope all goes well....payce

Re: civic headlights (letsride)
Slightly OT but where do you guys find the eyebrows for the headlights?
I used to have eyelids on my car and I just made them myself from vinyl.

Re: civic headlights (Rezon)
I bought CTR's and I think there worth it . If you think there too pricey ......then maybe you haven't been saving long enough. (some people build a car in 1 year some people take 3 years) just stay within your budget and if you dont have enough $ then save longer .

Re: civic headlights (stuckatworksi)
I could buy about 20 sets of CTR lights if I wanted, but like I said, there are better things to spend $500 on, like a downpayment on a house... something that is going to be worth something some day. Playing with your car is fun, but you have to be smart about it.

Re: civic headlights (Rezon)
I painted mine, they came out great! I was very pleased, plus I dont have to worry about them leaking. That is one of the problems associated with the aftermarket headlights... they leak. Painting mine saved me about $460-480 so I would just say paint yours.

Re: civic headlights
If any of you guys have your stock 96-98 headlights that you need to get rid of then let me know because I need a pair. Looking for someone willing to ship to Texas or I can pickup if nearby.

Re: civic headlights (Rezon)
I personally think they are way pricey for the budget minded. My list of "Better things to spend $500 on" is extremely long.
