Cherry Bomb Glasspack on EG question
I currently got a EG on the side and want a cherry bomb exhaust Glass pack?
its d15z1 motor and stock headers,
i want to bolt a cherry-bomb glasspack onto the end of the exhaust manifold only.
i want to know how loud it is????
do they sell a glass pack cherry-bomb by itself to bolt up to my stock headders??
did anyone did this???
will this setup sound better than a fart can headders-bolted on cherrybomb glasspack with no muffler???

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
it would sound like total dog crap and be great for your exhaust valves
and would just bother every 1
oem exhuast manifold....
not trying to be a di@k, you car makes under a 1 hp why try to make it sound like a hundred hp drag car?

A glass pack to replace the stock muffler, bad. A glass pack inline with a regular muffler would be ok. The glass pack would help smooth the tone out.

i'm not sure what you were getting at about the valves. but, if you were saying bad on the valves, thats a myth. search it. there was a big write up on that about 2 years ago i saw it.

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
I run a Brospeed header to a straight pipe to a cherry-bomb glass pack to a turndown just before the gas tank on my EG DX (D15B7) for light weight and minimal restriction. It is loud (~95 db WOT at 50') and buzzy, but works fine for my needs. Local noise restrictions have tightened and I am going to weld in a second glasspack.
From the header flange/b-pipe junction back it is all welded (the pipe to header junction uses the OEM style ball and flange joint).
Not a good setup for a daily driver IMHO, not the least of which because it is not emissions legal and the noise would attract police attention like horse poop attracts flies.
Here is a pic before I cut the straight pipe and welded in the glasspack: http://www.pebblemotorsports.com/img/engine/exhaust.jpg

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
I had a cherrybomb in place of my stock muffler when I had my sedan, and it sounded fine, it was no where near loud or obnoxious, it was quieter than any fart canon I've heard.
But that was with a stock manifold, cat, and piping back to the stock muffler location.

OP:
Where in CA do you live? If you're near LA, SD, Bay Area or Central Valley you're going to get hassled by the cops.

california is strict on their laws, this i understand. even here in pa, where some counties DON"T have emissions or things like that, the cops will hassle ya. op, i suggest you pick a different type of muffler. lol. if you are trying to stay on the cheap, thats cool, but ever consider like, a summit muffler, or a jegs muffler? not to expensive, about the same as what a glass pack would cost.

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
youtube is your friend when it comes to "previewing" how a muffler will sound. Thats how i make my decisions on things like this. Try and find someone with a similar setup to what you are looking for and from there. Of course this isn't going to clue you into exactly how loud it is, but you will at least know if its the sound you are looking for.
Like everyone else has said, your in california which means that you have some very very strict emissions to pass, and the engine you have is basically a gerbil exercise wheel, so whats the point?
And dude, i don't mean to hate but please work on your grammar. I got a headache trying to understand you. Its one thing to try and speak with slang and what not, but what the hell is the point in trying to type that way. Just type with proper english PLEASE@!

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
dude don’t do it they sound terrible super loud. not to mention it is annoying hearing a loud *** Honda punch it and you expect it to move and noting it is still on the same place lol. invest in some other power adder you can get a 2.5 cat back and be set then bolt on a Omni man test pipe. but seriously don’t put a exhaust unless you need it save the money for a swap or at least a vetc head and drop it in your d15

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
I ran open header on a d16y7 for a couple weeks (didn't have money for a muffler), it was loud as **** and annoying. The floorboard shook when I passed 2k rpm.
I got a $25 cheapo thrush turbo muffler and stock piping welded on, that sounded nice and deep

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
dude havent you heard a stock honda hit the gas with anytype of aftermarket exhaust? it sounds horrible IMO and everyone i know. i mean a b18 sounds o.k. sometime but as soon as it hits 5000rpm it sounds bad to. im not saying do what i say but i think your best bet is to leave the stock exhaust on and throw in an intake and let the motor do the roaring. if you drop a b18 in just drop in a type r exhaust so the flow is for power not crappy sound. and exhaust is only gonna give you 5-10 hp tops. building the motor will get you all the power and keep the cops off your back

Re: Cherry Bomb on EG question
sry for sounding like a complete ******* but if u really wanna go that route, just buy a resonator and paint that hoe red... or buy 2.... or stop being cheap and buy a full exhaust... ur already getting headers, why go half *** on the exhaust... ive seen em online for around 100 bucks, and that prolly how much ur gonna pay a mufler shop for the cherrybomb+piping+welding... or is this just a poor attempt to be "original"? either way please do OUR ears a favor and not do it...
