Yes, fix it before you go about resetting anything.

Not necessarily replace...but fix.
Sometimes you just have something that needs adjusting...other times you replace ****.

it means that that is the problem that needs to be fixed...not necessarily broken parts...some cars give codes for running too lean/rich etc etc....just get it scanned, KEEP THE CODE, fix the problem, clear the code.......

7k @ 4th gear on the freeway? Where you racing? tsk tsk.
Anyway main reason 22 comes up is because your low on oil pressure so your VTEC will kill off. Also i believe you visit limp land, fun times.
Check your oil level and then reset the code, if it comes back and alls good then clean the solienod out. If still nothing then theres more walk throughs to go through but i doubt it would go that far.

There are 3 or something bolts on the VTEC silenoid. It's on the back left of the valve cover. Unplug it and take those bolts out. Some oil will come out even if the engine is cold. Anways, get some brake cleaner and spray the **** out of it. Then make sure that ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of the brake cleaner is out. The little screen should be clean now. Put it back on, and your done.
