Build a Turbo kit. If you put one together yourself with used(but still good) parts i believe that you can have a turbo d for under $600.
Ebay for other bolt-ons. I wouldn't go with a turbo kit from there unless you really know the parts you're getting.

save all the money you will waste on boltons
and all the money you will save on gas....
and buy the engine of your choice when you have all of the money that you will need to buy said engine
that way you can start with a better base engine to modify

I hope you're not even thinking about inferring that he goes for a K-series swap. Thats like ... trying to import an exotic animal when you'll be perfectly happy with a healthy dog.
B-Series are not all that either. Can be expensive.
D-Series are best for cars that originally had a D-series engine in it. I'd think. They're the least inexpensive and easiest swaps to drop in.
Whats the full engine code? Cause D15 isn't it. If it's slow as garb then it sounds like a D15B7. If it is then we definately need to talk about getting you a better engine if you're willing to do so.

Re: cheap horsepower boosts for a D15? (Paprika)
i meant dont do anything to the D lol
its like you people think that others dont have 9 zillion posts that they cant do a swap. THEY ARE BOLTS... they go in and out the same way your bolts go in and out....I just meant its like beating your head against the wall..coming from someone who has been the route.. I know..
do a little research wait a little while save up some money
and do it right the first time.... like my momma always said "it's not about Mr.s right now, It's about Mr.s RIGHT"

Re: cheap horsepower boosts for a D15? (CBEengineering)
im not sure the exact engine code, but im pretty sure its the smallest engine honda makes. a shitty 1.5L. and its not the original engine the car came with, it came with a b16A1 but the guy who had it before me beat the dog **** out of it, the engine and tranny are so far past worth the money it would cost to fix, cuz it needs everything. my friend told me he was getting a new engine for his car, and would give me the old d15 out of his car for $250 and i thought it was a good deal. i mean i only really need a car that moves (and with the d15 it will) i just want it to move a bit faster. i just dont want old people to beat me up hills.

Dude. I have a D15B7. Unless you have atleast a Manual D15B7 I think anybody can beat you up a hill... even a Kia.
Look on the engine and give us the exact code it's downline underneath the distributer. There is a metal label where the Transmision and engine block meet, it will have this code on it.
Anyway if you just want bolt ons/easy fixes for speed and torque you first need to make sure the engine is in good condition. It could already be loosing power somehow, so you need to run some tests.
Do a good 5w-30 oil such as Mobil 1.
A Cold Air intake will help also, but I don't how well one performs because I have a short ram
If you want to go further maybe a new exhaust header, and then possibly ( idunno if this is even makes sense) but a intake manifold with shorter runners?
But yeah it soulds like you want bolt ons that you can slowly add onto the engine in order not to deplete your funds.

Re: cheap horsepower boosts for a D15? (deshidk1)
i had a d15b7 on an automatic tranny. slower then a glacier. well i got a jdm d15b and it definately made a difference. now if i swap in a manual tranny it will make an even better difference. you already have a manual tranny so if you got the d15b and maybe a nice cam and adjustable cam gear and had it tuned it would probably pull pretty good. if you want a seriously significant power increase right now, then yes turbo. my friend bought his whole turbo kit off ebay and it runs great.

What the hell are you talking about? You're getting a motor, what kind of car is it going in? More details please, you sound like you're halfway between drunk and mentally handicapped.

The problem with this topic is that there are literally a half dozen D15 engines you could be getting ranging from a 62hp D15B6 up to the 125hp D15B VTEC JDM engine.
We need to know the entire engine code before anyone can offer up any really solid helpful info bro. I mean I'd never boost the 62hp D15B6, but I'd probably boost a 102hp D15B7 or a D15B VTEC engine.

no jdm d15b is not the same as usdm yours is usdm and there are so many d15bs if you would read the other posts you could have learned that. now you have a d15b? you are still missing some of the engine code and the code/engine you need help with is the one your getting not the one you have so thats the code we need
